Western Australian Pearls
How better to connect you with the Kimberley region of Western Australia than to offer a selection of both our “Keshi” or seedless cultured Western Australian South Sea pearls and our cultured seeded Western Australian South Sea pearls. Synonymous with northern WA, our pearls are grown at a place called Quondong Point, some 50km’s out of the world famous pearling township of Broome. The term “Keshi” is Japanese for poppy seed and was the name given to the seedless pearls found when harvesting their seeded cousins. They differ from their “seeded” cultured Western Australian pearl cousins as their character lies in the fact that they are solid nacre and created free form and consequently come in a wide variety of shapes. Some would say they are the closest thing to what a “natural” pearl from a wild oyster would be like. However Keshi pearls are not natural pearls, but rather a bonus bi-product of the cultured pearling process. Like any pearl, grading is done by colour, shape, lustre, surface and size. Keshi pearls that are near round and over 10mm are very rare and hence very expensive, most are in the 2mm – 8mm range.
Our Western Australian pearls come with their own certificate of authenticity and are available for purchase with our Special Gift Packages offer only.
